Toad Xing
Caution: Look down during locomotion.
It's that time of year again to watch for [Eastern American] toads and gigantic earthworms as you run. I counted 3 toads of varying sizes on one run last year that I almost squashed. God, I would have felt terrible... not to mention that it sure would have been messy.
On a side note, I'm really bummed that I likely won't be able to run along the river this weekend... :(
Random Tidbit: My musically talented brother, Jeff and his good friend, Jarod created a band called Ped Xing when they were in high school. My all-time favorite moment had to be when they sang in harmony, and played a killer acoustic version of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here (a.k.a. "fish bowl") during their baccalaureate. Everyone in that room was in tears that night.
I'm going to see Tegan & Sara tonight at Bogarts and I am so hyped! By the way, if you happen to be in the Cincinnati area, stop down at Froggy Blues tonight and catch my friends' band, Ok To Drive (Nick Baker - vocals/guitar, Shawn Steele - lead guitar, Dave Pleasent - Bass, Andrew Nickel - Djimbe, and Chris Cox - Drums). They. Are. Awesome. And come say hello to all of us too, of course! :)
Don't forget about Mother's Day this Sunday! My mom said that she wanted me to get her potted flowers of my choice. Obviously she's getting snapdragons :)
One Mother's Day I'd like to start early and grow her an arrangement from seedlings. I'm not very good at taking care of plants, so we'll see how that goes. My theory has always been to scatter your seeds to the wind and let nature take its own course. Probably why my favorite flowers are the ones I find in the wild; that, and I hate lugging the watering can around.
I feel like such an asshole as of late though--to everyone, but especially to my mom. Three days ago I told her that I didn't think I would get her anything this year because gifts are a waste of resources and I think that us all being together is sufficient enough. I forgot that love and happiness are probably the most precious ones (resources), and if flowers make her happy, well by God, she's getting flowers.
I'm a fucking jerk. I'm truly sorry to everyone about it.
